Ensuring city government works – for everyone

Under the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and longstanding public safety issues, the City administration set out to instill confidence in city government and ensure all Chicagoans are connected and supported. For the administration, it was not enough to improve and modernize how government worked, they wanted to directly address the mistrust and isolation felt by communities of color. Using equity as a guiding principle of good governance, the City focused on a data-driven approach to track performance and service delivery while mandating the adoption of diversity, equity, and inclusion metrics to ensure all residents benefit from initiatives and policies.
